What is ACAMAL
ACAMAL is a Japanese brand produced by Mayumi Hasegawa, born out of the desire for there to exist things for which people develop fondness and attachment the more they are used, like in times past. All of the products are created collaboratively between the designer and craftspeople. （We move forward while dreaming of a world in which everyone’s hearts become full by realizing beautiful things that one can spend ages using.） Also, ACAMAL boasts an expression of leather never before seen, using exclusive techniques to realize the uniqueness of ‘urushi’ and indigo dye, techniques borne out of years of trial and error. ACAMAL is the synthesis of the continuation of traditional arts and new sensibilities, nurtured over time, and hopefully savored in everyone’s daily life.

Director MAYUMI HASEGAWA
Born in 1977. Began her businesses at age 21. As a pioneer in manufacturing, internationally to deal in a free style of business over a wide range of issues, from product development to brand consultation.
Primarily researching craftsmanship in Japan, her premise is to pay respect to craftspeople by passing on good aspects of culture as well as conveying the preciousness of craftsmanship through actual final products.
As a designer and craftsperson, she does leather coloring work, such as with python leather, while also fulfilling the role of director of LAMAHINA LLC.
Moved to Portland, Oregon, USA in fall of 2019.
MAYUMI HASEGAWA 長谷川 真弓
1977年東京生まれ。21歳で独立起業する。独学で革のなめし・染色・加工について研究、製作を行い、2001年レザーブランド「MAYUMI HASEGAWA」を創立する。自らが染めて加工した革を使い、デザインしたバッグやベルト、財布をはじめとする革製品を手作り量産する。全国の百貨店やセレクトショップに商品を卸販売を行う傍ら、2006年には表参道に直営店を2店舗構える。2008年、バンタンデザイン研究所専門学校にて革についての講師として講義も行なった。宝島社「MonoMax」「カバン・オブ・ザ・イヤー」にて、鞄の審査員を毎年担当している。2009年より毎月雑誌「LEON」などのファッション雑誌に掲載され、デザイナーとしてTVやラジオなどにも多数出演、革業界初の女性デザイナーとしての地位を確立した。
2010年より日本の物作りを研究しながら、日本中を旅する。職人への敬意は良い文化の継承として、物を通じて物作りの大切さを発信する為、2014年株式会社万化を設立。デザイナー兼職人の一人として、ACAMALの母体となる株式会社万化の代表取締役を務める傍ら、革染色・デザイン・サンプル制作を担当する。また、クールジャパン機構の海外イベントに帯同するなど、日本文化の発信者としても活躍した。
2014年から「ACAMAL」ブランドをスタート。銀座SIX,銀座三越、高島屋、都内セレクトショップ他、毎年東京にて単独展示会を5年間開催した。「感謝祭」と称された展示会は、毎年１回東京で7年に渡って開催された。財界人、芸能人、相撲界、アスリート、アーティスト等のファンを多く持つ。
2017年より東京都豊島区にて女性起業家として選抜され、起業についての講演を行なっている。また、これまでの２０年の経験を生かし、老舗ブランドや、起業者など数社のブランドコンサルティングを行っている。さらに日本の素晴らしい物作りを世界に発信していく為、2019年12月よりアメリカオレゴン州・ポートランドに移住。
